Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up with pure fury as Metro claim that the club could well have to brace themselves for a bid for Hugo Lloris.
Now as our regulars note, the club would be seriously unwilling to let their number one go, especially given his form over the last couple of seasons but when a Champions League club comes calling, it is hard to resist – unless the club in question is Arsenal.
Today’s reports attribute French publication L’Equipe who have claimed that the Gunners are keen on landing the French international as question marks remain over the long-term future of Wojciech Szczesny.
The Gunners are of course massive local rivals and quite frankly hated by Spurs. The fact that Arsene Wenger seems to be under the impression he can land Lloris has infuriated the majority of our resident Lilywhites drinking by the bar this evening.
We think that the Lilywhites will point blank refuse any sale but the crossing of the great North London divide has happened before and could well happen again if Mauricio Pochettino fails to lead his side to the top four of the Premier League this term.
