After going a whole summer without signing a single player, Tottenham fans know what it’s like to be disappointed in a transfer window. However, not signing anyone would be better than signing Phil Jones from Manchester United, which is what The Sun has linked Tottenham with doing in one of the coming January or Summer windows.
[@SunSport] also now understand Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Man Utd defender Phil Jones ahead of January.

When Phil Jones arrived at Manchester United he was tipped for great things. The 26-year-old defender signed for the club from Blackburn back in 2011 and he’s failed to live up to the high expectations that the fans and the club had of him when he signed. However, The Sun claims that with less than 12 months to go on his deal, United are keen to activate an extension to avoid the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal swooping to sign him on a free next summer.
As far as The Lilywhites are concerned, Phil Jones would be a horrendous transfer for them to make. The club currently have Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and the emerging Juan Foyth as their four options at the back and even though they could be set to lose Alderweireld, replacing him with Jones would be a catastrophic error of judgement from Mauricio Pochettino.

I’d rather have a stop sign out in the pitch than him! Hopeless

The Lilywhites would be distraught if they signed Jones and would much rather go another window without making a purchase than signing the Manchester United flop.
