Tottenham fans on Twitter have been looking ahead to their huge clash against Manchester City at Wembley tonight and the one man who they’re desperate to see starting is Serge Aurier. The Ivorian defender has been injured since coming off against Watford in the Carabao Cup and now they’re eager for him to return.

Kieran Trippier has been Tottenham’s number one right-back since his escapades over the summer with England at the World Cup. However, in the last few weeks the defender has looked slow and off the pace and that has led to a number of fans calling for the Bury Beckham to take a backseat and let the ex-PSG man, Aurier start against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Etihad faithful will be confident of taking all three points from the national stadium but if Aurier can do a number on the left-sided City man, Leroy Sane then Tottenham could go somewhat to stopping this City juggernaut that has conquered all before them in the Premier League. It will certainly be a tough ask for whoever starts at right-back, but a lot of the Lilywhites believe Aurier is their man.

Son looked bright in spells. For me, he starts Wednesday with Llorente. Would prefer to see Lucas and Aurier overlapping on the right. I wouldn't be against having Sissoko start either to further exploit the chemistry those three have together.

Rose is injured, so Davies or KWP. Aurier for Tripps. Not against having Dembele start alongside Winks but I do think Dier will start and Dembele will be available as an impact sub.

The Lilywhites are adamant that they want to see Aurier over Trippier tonight and it should be a good contest if the Ivorian is up against Sane.
