Whatever has happened between Vincent Janssen and Mauricio Pochettino has hindered the Dutch striker’s career. However, with the ongoing injury crisis in the Tottenham squad, Janssen has had to be called upon to fill in and he took his place on the bench at The Etihad, even he failed to get on during the Premier League clash.

It was a strange lineup that Pochettino started with as he trusted an attacking foursome of Lucas Moura, Heung-Min Son, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli to get the job done leaving his only two fit recognised strikers, Fernando Llorente and Janssen, on the bench. It was a move that saw the Lilywhites create plenty of chances on a day where they should have been a lot more clinical in their 1-0 loss.
It was a tough loss to take for the travelling supporters, and they can’t moan that Poch didn’t go for it either as he did bring Llorente off the bench for the last 15 or so minutes. Unfortunately, Janssen stayed on the bench and wasn’t given a go, yet come Tuesday against Brighton it would be no surprise to see the ex-AZ Alkmaar man thrown into action, especially if Llorente proves ineffective.

The Lilywhites absolutely love the idea of Janssen returning and will hope that the Dutchman has some kind of involvement between now and the end of the season.
