Tottenham fans took to Twitter last night to vent frustration as Son was benched

It just seems silly to question Mauricio Pochettino at the moment, even when you think he’s got it royally wrong, his decisions work out and he’s left making the Tottenham fans look silly. Yesterday was yet another example of that as he left Heung-Min Son on the bench in favour of Lucas Moura, and The Lilywhites sill got the win, with Son featuring as a second-half substitute.

The strength in depth in this Tottenham side is actually quite staggering, especially seeing as they’ve gone almost a whole year without signing a player and have been ravaged by injuries this season. However, with Poch at the helm, rotation is key and he got it spot on again last night, giving Sonny an hour’s rest and Christian Eriksen also managing to stay on the bench for 70 minutes, meaning they should both be fit for Arsenal on Sunday.

However, a lot of fans at the start were far from pleased to see that Son was being overlooked. After the South Korean scored an absolutely stunning solo goal against Chelsea he had fans calling for him to start left, right and centre, but Pochettino held his nerve and came away with all three points to keep his side in the fight for a spot in the Champions League last 16, although the fans will be a little bit less forgiving if Son is left out when they travel to Barcelona in a must-win match at the Nou Camp.

Tottenham fans everywhere were gutted to see Son miss out on a start, but fortunately, Poch got right when it counted.
