Tottenham fans will still be getting over what happened last night. The Lilywhites won their biggest game of the season so far as they overcame Manchester City 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to a Heung-Min Son goal and a Hugo Lloris penalty save. However, everyone played their part on the night, including Kieran Trippier.
Probably an unpopular opinion but deserves to be acknowledged what a throughly decent performance Kieran Trippier this evening for Tottenham Hotspur.
The player has already admitted he has not lived up to expectation this season however that was a faultless display.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/dWvV6kgY9O

The ex-Burnley full-back has spent every game he’s featured in this season chasing his World Cup form from last summer, and largely it’s been to no avail. The defender was one of the players of the tournament last summer, yet in a Spurs shirt, it just hasn’t happened for him, that was up until last night. The full-back was at his very best against City, and his performance deserves recognition.
Trippier was up against Raheem Sterling. The City man is one of the sharpest players in Europe at the moment, he’s one of the favourites to win the PFA player of the season in the Premier League and his goal tally is better than some #9’s. It certainly wasn’t easy for him last night, though, as Trippier kept him at arm’s length all game to help the Lilywhites record a 1-0 win that they’ll take to Manchester next Wednesday, where Trippier will have to be at his very best yet again.
You can read the Lilywhites’ thoughts on Trippier here:
I have to agree, I've been as critical as anyone this season but to keep a potential POTY like Sterling quiet like that deserves high praise.

Great man to man marking it looks like Poch has worked on this all week with Trips. Well done @trippier2 for keeping sterling quiet #thfc #COYS

The Lilywhites loved Trippier’s efforts last night and will be desperate for him to star yet again when they travel to The Etihad in seven days time.
