According to a big update from journalist Miguel Delaney of the Independent, talks to tie down Tottenham’s star striker Harry Kane have now commenced amid claims that both Man City and Paris-Saint Germain are contemplating audacious swoops – with chairman Daniel Levy now instigating a ‘clever‘ move.
Kane has been lighting up the Premier League this season alongside fellow star attacker Son Heung-min, with the duo repeatedly shining for Spurs under manager Jose Mourinho over the course of the 2020/21 campaign.
Could Harry Kane leave Tottenham?
No, he's staying forever
Kane talks commence in stroke of Levy genius
Son has already been at the centre of big claims suggesting that he could sign a fresh deal imminently, worth a reported £200,000-per-week, and now Levy is attempting to tie down another one of Tottenham’s focal points with another offer of a bumper new contract.
Delaney, breaking the news on Twitter, says initial talks over an extension, which would keep Kane in north London for the ‘prime of his career‘, have now started.
If Kane were to put pen to paper, the likes of City and PSG would be dealt a hammer blow in their pursuit of the Englishman, with Delaney hinting at this and claiming that the potential renewal is a ‘typically clever’ one by Levy in a Spurs masterstroke.
The Independent journalist also says that Kane is ‘happy‘, meaning he could well sign the new deal – but he reportedly only remains satisfied on the condition that Spurs stay competitive.
Transfer Tavern take
In a stroke of Levy genius, as described in this update, Tottenham could tie down their most prized asset at a time where huge outfits are sniffing around and allegedly willing to place ambitious bids for his services.
Kane has made no secret of his ambition, and if Spurs do manage to tie him down, the pressure would then be on Mourinho and Levy to ensure that the Lilywhites are competing for silverware.
This comes as a big update for Tottenham fans, who will be hoping that the 27-year-old puts pen to paper in this Levy masterstroke.
