Writing for football.london, Alasdair Gold has tipped Jose Mourinho to recall Lucas Moura for the match against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon – even despite the potential return of Gareth Bale from illness and outcast Dele Alli available for use.
Moura, who has been rarely picked by Mourinho this season, largely due to his favouritism of Steven Bergwijn, could be recalled by the Spurs boss for a clash with the Foxes.
Moura tipped for start
Bergwijn and Erik Lamela (when fit) have arguably been Mourinho’s first choice options on the right hand side so far, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min nailed on as starters across the front three.
That leaves a toss up between Bale, Bergiwjn and Moura for a place on the right – with Gold now tipping Mourinho to utilise the Brazilian despite proving ineffective at times this campaign.
Regardless, the journalist feels Moura is Tottenham’s best option on that side, or at least predicts Mourinho to use him, with the rarely-seen star touted for a Foxes cameo.
Transfer Tavern take
Described as a ‘demon‘ by Martin Keown, the 28-year-old is seen as a hero among some supporters for his crucial Champions League contribution in 2019.
Indeed, he bagged a memorable late hat-trick to send Spurs into their first European Cup final – but it remains to be seen whether he will in fact be used tomorrow.
Moura hinted last season he was wasted under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, with a recall to the first team now tipped as Spurs aim to stay in the title race.
