Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s match against LASK in the Europa League, manager Jose Mourinho has waxed lyrical over Spurs’ draw to Marine in the FA Cup third round – going on to admit he is ‘excited’.
Mourinho, who has guided his side to the top of the table, will be looking at any chance to win silverware this season amid a congested and gruelling fixture calendar – with a trip to Northern Premier League North/West Divison side Marine now on the cards.
While this tie gives the Spurs boss an opportunity to rest key players whilst potentially getting through to the fourth round, a win-win situation, Mourinho has also had his say on the magic of the cup and what it could mean for their opponents.

Alasdair Gold also called it an ‘incredible‘ tie, with Mourinho now relaying that thought and dropping his opinions on the historic encounter as Tottenham gear up to play the semi-professional outfit.
“I am excited. I learn to love the FA Cup as a kid,” explained the Lilywhites boss.
“I think it’s a beautiful thing for everyone, and I look forward to it. I hope there are good conditions in the stadium in terms of safety and protocols. I would love to play in that stadium.”
Transfer Tavern take
While it will not be a blockbuster encounter, competitions like the FA Cup hand chances to smaller sides who wish to play against Premier League giants like Tottenham – with Marine also potentially benefitting from added revenue as it feels likely this fixture will be chosen for TV broadcast.
As Mourinho explains, this development could certainly be ‘beautiful’ and his excitement is certainly justified.
