According to a Spurs source, speaking to Football Insider, a development has now emerged in Daniel Levy’s quest to secure a highly profitable Tottenham Hotspur Stadium naming rights deal.
The Lowdown: Spurs still yet to announce stadium deal…
Since Spurs moved into their brand new, state-of-the-art ground in April 2019, club chairman Levy has been on a mission to secure a lucrative Tottenham Hotspur Stadium naming rights deal.
In what would be a big off-field boost for the club financially, it is claimed by The Telegraph that Spurs are still after a £25m-per-year naming rights deal nearly two years after they originally set that goal.
A source has now shared some news on the matter from within the club.
The Latest: Spurs source leaks stadium rights development…
Speaking to Football Insider, a Lilywhites informant has now claimed that Tottenham are in talks to secure a naming rights deal for their stadium.
Indeed, in what is a ‘priority’ for the board according to this update, Spurs are desperate to finalise a mega money agreement which would run for at least 10 years.
However, as detailed in this update, they are still refusing to budge on their £25m-per-year target, and chiefs personally led by Levy have held ‘discussions’ with ‘various blue chip companies’.
The Verdict: Get it done…
Finally sealing an agreement to sponsor the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should be the club’s main priority off the field and we are surprised it has not been done yet.
The club appointed former NFL executive Todd Kline as chief commercial officer earlier this year in a bid to bolster their hunt for a deal and his expertise should be invaluable (Evening Standard). He bagged an 18-year naming rights deal for the Miami Dolphins’ stadium, worth a mooted £180m, in one of his previous posts.
Tottenham supporters and Levy alike will be hoping that he can help to secure a similar agreement for their club, especially considering the massive losses posted by Spurs during the pandemic.
