Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and director of football Fabio Paratici are ‘big admirers’ of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Lowdown: Spurs weighing up offer

The Italian will be entering the final 18 months of his contract at the San Siro come the New Year, leaving his future up in the air after recently being linked with an exit.

Reports have suggested that the Lilywhites are considering making a £44m bid for the 23-year-old at the end of the season, with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United also holding an interest.

The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke revealed that Tottenham will have Bastoni on their list of top defensive targets, with two of the club’s key figures very fond of him. He said:

"I'm sure Bastoni will be among Tottenham's top targets - maybe not in January, but in the summer if they can prise him away from Inter Milan.

"We know Conte and Paratici are big admirers of him and I'm sure they see him as somebody who could fill that problematic position on the left side of the defence."

The Verdict: Davies replacement

Tottenham are desperately in need of someone who can come in and solve the existing problems on that left side of the defence, and Bastoni would be the ideal long-term replacement for Ben Davies.

The centre-back has proven he can be a threat in the final third having registered ten assists and scored three goals during his time at Inter, and currently averages an 88.6% pass success rate in Serie A.

Bastoni worked under Conte when he was in charge at the San Siro, and Spurs holding this kind of advantage over their competitors could mean that a reunion is soon on the cards.
