Tottenham: Journalist reacts to Hamed Junior Traore links

Spurs target Hamed Junior Traore celebrates scoring for Sassuolo

Hamed Junior Traore, Tottenham, Spurs, Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur target Hamed Junior Traore would ‘fit the bill’ in the Premier League, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Lowdown: Five-horse race

The Ivorian still has nearly two years remaining on his contract with Sassuolo, but his performances at the Mapei Stadium appear to have caught the eye of several potential suitors.

West Ham, AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus, alongside the Lilywhites, have all been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old, with at least £26m needed in order to prise him away from Alessio Dionisi’s side.

The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, O’Rourke was asked whether he thought Traore would be a suitable match for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

The journalist responded: “Yeah, I think somebody like Traore could be someone who could fit the bill for them.”

The Verdict: Serie A revisited

Despite being out of action since June due to a metatarsal fracture, Traore has an impressive track record with Sassuolo which has seen him labelled a player ‘on fire’ by Jacek Kulig earlier this year.

The 5 foot 11 dynamo has scored 18 goals and provided nine assists for his current club, highlighting his creativity in the middle of the park, and he is a versatile player, having also operated as a left winger in addition to his usual central role.

Fabio Paratici has a history of buying players from Serie A, most recently the likes of Destiny Udogie and Ivan Perisic, so it comes as no surprise to learn that the Tottenham sporting director is once again diverting his attention to Italy in the hope of landing Traore in 2023.
