Tottenham Hotspur: Pundit tips Spurs to sign £72million-rated playmaker in January - Premier League

Speaking recently to Football Insider, former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell stated his belief that Paulo Dybala could well be the answer to Tottenham Hotspur’s creative problems.

Since joining Juventus from Palermo in what was a £36 million deal back in 2015, Dybala has gone on to feature 241 times for the club, scoring 97 goals and providing 38 assists along the way.

Can you name these 10 former Spurs stars? Let's get started! Who is this?

However, so far this season, the £72 million-rated forward has found game time harder to come by, which has led to speculation that the Argentina international could be on his way out of Turin in January.

And, Spanish publication Todo Fichajes claim that Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho, has identified Dybala as his number one target for the upcoming window, something which Campbell apparently approves of.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Dybala is a superb player. He is someone with tricks and he is someone who can unlock the door.

“Mourinho is building from the back. He has sorted the defence and the base of his midfield while the partnership of Son and Kane is thriving. But I think he knows there will be times where teams will sit in and ask Spurs to break them down.

“Mourinho will need a different option, an alternative to be able to unlock the door and Dybala could be that. He has not messed around with his transfers so far. He is going for key players in key positions.”

Transfer Tavern Take

Considering the fact that Spurs have been heavily reliant on Harry Kane and Heung-min Son in terms of both goals and assists in the league so far this season, with no other Spurs player scoring more than once and only Sergio Reguilon providing more than one assist, it would indeed seem as if Tottenham could use the addition of a more creative player in the January transfer window.

And, if Campbell is to be believed, that player could well be Dybala.
