The summer of 2013 was a busy one for Liverpool with manager Brendan Rodgers bringing in a host of players as he looked to guide his club back into the Champions League.
And among those signings was Iago Aspas, who arrived from Celta Vigo in a deal that had supporters feeling jubilant.

Unfortunately for those supporters, though, Aspas was unable to replicate the form he showed in Spain with Celta Vigo, failing to score a single Premier League goal during his time at Anfield.
With Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge finding the back of the net every week, Aspas was forced to settle for a peripheral role. And when the 31-year-old was called upon, he lacked the sharpness to make a real impact.
Aspas has since had a loan spell with Sevilla before being given the permanent boot back to Celta Vigo where he has gone on to have a massive revival.
The Spaniard has hit double figures in each of the last three La Liga seasons — becoming a Spain international in the process — and is well on course to accomplishing the same this campaign.
Based on that, it is quite clear Aspas is a player who possesses much quality. However, for whatever reason, it did not work at Liverpool under Rodgers and the Celta Vigo man will now go down as one of the worst signings made by FSG.
