TT Battle: Mohamed Salah vs Richarlison

Liverpool currently sit in second position after 13 games in the Premier League, while Everton are slowly building up ahead of steam in sixth place.

The Reds will be desperate to maintain their unbeaten streak and take Manchester City’s place at the top of the table, with an elusive title in their sights. Meanwhile, the Toffees will have their sights set on securing a European spot under Marco Silva, which could be a walk in the park if they continue to ensure consistency.

Liverpool take on Everton at Anfield later on today in what will be the first Merseyside derby of the current Premier League campaign, so we took a look at Mohamed Salah and Richarlison’s influence at their respective clubs.

With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…

MOHAMED SALAH

Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool back in the summer of 2017 for £34 million from Italian side AS Roma.

The Egyptian failed to make any inroads during his time at Stamford Bridge, but he has certainly turned his career around since returning to the Premier League as he continues to establish himself as one of the best attackers in world football at Liverpool Football Club.

Liverpool’s main man has nine goals and four assists to his name in the current campaign, but it was last season that he really made a name for himself by producing a whopping 44 goals and 16 assists.

RICHARLISON

Everton signed Richarlison from Watford back in the summer months for a reported fee of £50 million.

It’s safe to say that the Brazilian has gone on to establish himself as one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, with six goals and one assist to his name already. But, this isn’t the only thing that the forward has achieved in the current campaign as he has also thrived on the international stage with Brazil.

The Toffees will be relying on their summer signing to help secure them a European spot in the current campaign, which shouldn’t be too difficult if he continues to come on leaps and bounds under Marco Silva.

TT VERDICT:

When comparing these two, it’s clear to see that Mohamed Salah has been superior on the goals and assists front over the past season or so, but Richarlison is slowly creeping out of his shadow in the current campaign.

Sadly for Everton, while Liverpool were celebrating securing Salah’s services in the summer of 2017, the Toffees were shedding tears over the fact that Romelu Lukaku was heading towards the exits at Goodison Park.

The Reds’ main man established himself as arguably one of the best attackers in world football last season by producing some astonishing stats, and is already showing signs of replicating that in the current campaign.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian has been the shining light for the Toffees and will go on to achieve big things in the future, with Champions League football coming his way at some point.

Both players have already showcased their talents in the Premier League this season and will only get better from here on in, but it’s Salah that has defied expectations over the past couple of seasons at Liverpool.
