Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking a bit bleary eyed this morning after staying up late to see exactly what happened with Ross Barkley and his potential departure.
A saga that had been going on for the whole of the window, it finally looked as though it would come to a head yesterday evening with him looking close to joining Chelsea.
However, at the very last minute, the midfielder turned them down and opted to stay with the Toffees.
Indeed, according to the Telegraph, the midfielder wanted to join Tottenham instead but his club would only consider business with Chelsea leaving him to feel as though his future was being dictated by the Toffees.
A rather fittingly confusing end to this one, then, and whilst we wait to see what happens next, there was plenty of reaction on Twitter with the best of which being found right here:
