Chelsea have been ripped of their Premier League title this season in emphatic fashion, as Manchester City have romped clear and are within touching distance of sealing a third title.

Blues manager Antonio Conte has been teetering on the edge with his job this term, but remains in position and will be hoping for a summer of change and some big money signings to strengthen his hand and put his side in pole position to really challenge City next time around.

There is every chance Chelsea can bounce back, and they have done it before. With plenty of factors to consider, and the potential for City to become weaker and lose key players to some of the big teams in Europe, Blues fans should no be too disheartened this year and can be hopeful for 2018/19.

With these thoughts in mind, we here in the Tavern got to thinking about next term, and after a few in depth discussions with our landlord, we’ve come up with TWO reasons why Chelsea can bounce back and win the Premier League next season…

A summer of big spending

It was clear in January that Conte was not too happy with the signings made by the Blues hierarchy, and this summer we could see a shift in how things are done off the field if Conte gets his way.

The likes of Ross Barkley are never going to live up to expectations at the Bridge, and even if he does settle more over the summer, Chelsea are still likely to go out and spend big.

Expect Conte to be on the hunt for quality in all areas of the pitch, with central midfield and centre half bound to be of particular interest, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ future remains unsolved between the sticks.

A returning and in-form Batshuayi

One position in which Chelsea could end up being blessed in and not having to dip into the market to strengthen is up front, with both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud bound to prove excellent options for the Blues next term.

However, their on loan Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi could well be their trump card, with the forward finding excellent form during his opening few weeks with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

If Batshuayi can continue his rich vein of form and keep banging in the goals, then Antonio Conte will find him hard to ignore. The powerful striker could well be the ace up the sleeve of Conte as he looks to wrestle back the Premier League title from Manchester City.
