The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are starting to come to terms with the fact that they’re going to miss out on Champions League football next season after their first home defeat to Tottenham in 28 years. The Blues now sit 5th and eight points behind Spurs with only seven games left to play as Conte has claimed the club have a “responsibility” to keep fighting for a place in the top four.

Antonio Conte has a chance to bounce back from his side’s crushing defeat at Tottenham when they face West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Things have not been looking bright for the Chelsea fans propping our bar up and if the club fails to pick up all three points on Sunday then their Champions League hopes will be pretty much over. The one thing the fans do have to look forward to is an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against the lesser fancied Southampton in just over two weeks time.
If Chelsea fail to achieve Champions League football this campaign, many fans believe it will spell the end for Conte at Chelsea. The Italian did a superb job in his first season last year, winning the Premier League at a canter and breaking the record for most wins in a Premier League season and most consecutive wins in a Premier League season. However, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are out to make sure those records don’t stand for long as they’ve steamrollered the competition this time around.
