‘Underrated warrior’ - Liverpool fans on Twitter can’t help but agree with top journalist

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating their club’s fantastic 5-2 win over Roma last night in the Champions League semi-final first leg. Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino scored two each and Sadio Mane chipped in with the other, although fans can’t help but agree with Mail on Sunday sports writer, Oliver Holt as he praised Jordan Henderson for his performance.

Good to see Jordan Henderson getting plenty of praise today. He was superb last night. Others scored the goals but there was no doubting that he was the leader of that Liverpool team.

Holt would be right, as Henderson was phenomenal last night. The combative midfielder played his part in the Merseysiders’ fantastic win against Roma and despite the fact he stayed off of the scoresheet, his leadership qualities were there for all to see. Much like the first leg of the quarter-final clash against Manchester City, the 27-year-old was well in control of the midfield and allowed those around him and in front of him to express themselves on the ball.

The former-Sunderland man missed the second leg of Liverpool’s quarter-final against Manchester City through suspension but showed no signs of letting up when he came back into the side alongside James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was replaced by Georginio Wijalndum, owing to an early injury. The second leg at the Stadio Olimpico will be what every Liverpool fan has their eyes on next Wednesday as they target their first Champions League final in 11 years since they lost 2-1 to Milan in Athens.
