The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Antonio Conte’s squad to be refreshed this month. The Blues’ have struggled in the Premier League on occasion this season, with the likes of Man City and Man Utd clearly both having more quality on the field.
That’s not to say that Chelsea don’t have any good players. Certainly, the Blues’ squad is littered with quality, but the problem is that there simply isn’t enough of it. It’s difficult for Antonio Conte to impress when he only has one or two options per position.
This is a particular problem in the attack, with both Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi struggling to impress in recent weeks. Clearly, then, a new striker would be a wise addition this month – but a recent report from Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph have served to raise fears about the chancesof that happening.
There will be more talks between Chelsea, Roma and Dzeko but it’s still not certain he will join. His age means it is a complicated deal for Chelsea to negotiate #cfc

Law seems to be suggesting that unless the Blues break that strategy, then a deal is likely to not happen – with his age a huge factor. Unsurprisingly, this has generated a lot of anger and concern amongst Blues fans – and they’ve let out that anger over on Twitter in response to the news.
With one fan describing the club as an ‘utter shambles’ in light of the news, it’s clear that they aren’t very happy.
Take a look below at a selection of responses…
We need to stop this 1 year contract nonsense for players over 30

Which deal is not complicated for us?

Tell Marina Makalele and Ballack signed for us in their 30s and became some of our most important players. This is football, not the banking sector

Then why did Chelsea go for him at the first place. It's actually gross.. The club knows he's over 30, willing to strike a deal but complicating things themselves. Also when they bend the rules, what's the justice for Lamps, Terry and Cole?

no it’s not just sign him we need a goal scorer

His age is not the complication. The complication is a ridiculous rule that Chelsea are imposing on themselves, end it now #cfc
