Edwin Van Der Sar is set to extend his contract and solve Manchester United’s goalkeeper problem for at least 1 more year according to The Sun.
This season has seen both back up keepers Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak given runs in the first team and although Kuszczak has been solid, Ben Foster has not impressed. Touted as Van Der Sar’s future replacement, Foster failed to capture the imagination of United’s fans or Sir Alex Ferguson thus United were linked with both CSKA Moscow’s Igor Akinfeev and Schalke’s Manuel Neuer, so Van Der Saar’s enthusiam to sign a new contract will be music to the ears of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Currently 39, Van Der Sar has not been hindered by age and last season went an astonishing world-record 1,311 minutes without conceding a goal.
