Victor Moses: The kind of ambitious loan signing Celtic need

Celtic fans will be disappointed following their 2-0 defeat against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Europa League.

The Hoops’ woes in Europe continued with Brendan Rodgers again struggling to get things right on the continent. In his three seasons in charge, Rodgers has guided the club in both the Champions League and the Europa League. However, Celtic have won just four wins in 19 away games – keeping just five clean sheets in the process.

Their defensive woes were again on show in Germany with Leipzig strolling to victory leaving Celtic with a mountain to climb to reach the knockout stages of the competition. Losses against the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain are understandable, but now the Scottish champions are struggling against sides much lower down the divisions. One man Rodgers could target in January to improve their fortunes is Chelsea’s Victor Moses.

Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, the Nigeria international came out of nowhere to become a crucial player for the Blues under Antonio Conte. The wing-back was vital for the Italian and excelled in the 3-5-2 system, helping deliver a Premier League trophy to Stamford Bridge. However, with Maurizio Sarri switching back to a traditional back four, Moses has found it hard to displace the world-class Cezar Azpilicueta and reports suggest Moses could depart in January.

Rodgers has worked with Moses before, landing his services on loan back in 2013 as manager of Liverpool. After initially struggling on Merseyside, Moses enjoyed a spell in the first-team and produced some impressive performances for the Northern Irishman. A reunion at Celtic Park could give the Hoops an edge in the title race.

The 27-year-old has come on leaps and bounds following Conte’s spell in charge and would be a real coup for the Bhoys in the January transfer window.

Celtic fans, thoughts?
