David Moyes won’t have been impressed with the muddled  and unconvincing performance Everton gave at Elland Road in the Capital One Cup. Yes, Leeds pressed but Everton but you wouldn’t have recognised them compared to their excellent Premier League form.

Southampton picked up their first points of the season last time out, thrashing Aston Villa 4-1 at St Marys, a result which saw them climb out of the relegation zone and halted a run of 4 consecutive defeats.

Nikica Jelavic could be restored to the Everton starting line up, after he returned from a knee injury to feature as a second half substitute in midweek.

Southampton will be without midfielder Jack Cork, who is expected to be out for six weeks with a knee injury he sustained during Tuesday’s league cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
