Liverpool fans must be heading towards the point where they start asking themselves if the loaning out of Andy Carroll was a positive after all. Allardyce told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday program that he is unsure whether Liverpool have any intention of going through with the recall yet, “There’s an opportunity for Liverpool if they want to, but whether they do or they don’t will be in a matter of time.”
The Hammers boss also believes that Carroll will be instrumental in helping his side remain in the Premier League this season, “If Andy’s playing for us on a regular basis by then, he’ll have played a major part in keeping us in the league this year.”
At 23 years old, Carroll may not yet realistically command the £35 million price tag he has if time was turned yet he certainly has the potential to do so. Brendan Rodgers believes that his number doesn’t have the ability to play his tiki taka style.
Yet we have seen flashes of brilliance when the ball has been at Carroll’s feet in the past, not to mention his aerial threat and ability to hold the ball and bring others into the game. The only thing that Carroll has lacked since Brendan Rodgers arrived on Merseyside is an opportunity.
