Everton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are loving life!

The Toffees remain unbeaten thus far, having won three and drawing one of their first four games.

It has been an impressive start for the Merseyside team who struggled to live up to their potential last season under Roberto Martinez.

The Spaniard parted ways with the club for incoming Koeman this summer and is now the head coach of the Belgium national team.

As we look forward to another surely thrilling encounter on Monday Night Football which sees David Moyes welcome his former side to his new stomping ground, we’ve been looking at some of the greatest Everton goals of all time.

Our regulars at the Transfer Tavern think these THREE are the best, but will be hoping that a goal tonight could top it.

Romelu Lukaku v Chelsea – March 2016

One of the more recent annals of Evertonian goal archives, Lukaku scored this stunning goal last season to dump his former club Chelsea out of the FA Cup and send Goodison Park into jubilation.

Picking the ball up mid-way through the opposition half, the big Belgian barged his way with phenomenal strength through 3 Chelsea defenders before turning poor Gary Cahill inside out and slotting home into the bottom corner.

Does he even lift though? (I think he must)

Tony Hibbert v AEK Athens – August 2012

With 308 appearances under his belt for Everton without a goal, Scotsman Tony Hibbert left it until his testimonial match against AEK Athens to finally get his name on the scoresheet.

And what a goal it was, his drilled 20-yard free kick sparked a semi-pitch invasion from the Everton fans while his team-mates and manager jumped for joy.

After nearly two decades of service for the Merseyside club, the goal is one that will sit in the hearts of many Everton fans for a long time to come.

Barry Horne v Wimbledon – May 1994

‘Who needs Eric Cantona when you’ve got Barry Horne?’ That’s what Everton fans were chanting after the game as Horne’s spectacular 25-yard dipping effort buried itself in the top corner to make the score 2-2 against visitors Wimbledon.

The goal was even more special as it proved to be the one to keep Everton in the league, even if they did add a third to win the game after. Some say the goal was the inspiration behind Tony Yeboah’s legendary goal for Leeds.

Some being me, but the two are eerily similar.
