To say it’s been a slow summer for the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern thus far would be a severe understatement indeed.
While our resident Geordies remain optimistic about life under Rafa Benitez, the only signings thus far have been the permanent one of last season’s loan star Christian Atsu, as well as the arrival of former Eibar central defender, Florian Lejune.
So, recent reports from the Sun claiming the Magpies were ready to table a £10m offer for England U20 World Cup hero Sheyi Ojo have at least given members of the Toon Army something to talk about. Benitez is reportedly a fan of the Liverpool man, though the idea of paying such a big fee for him has sparked debate online.
Indeed, the Toon’s links with Norwich City star Jacob Murphy have even been called into question by the report, something discussed by users on Twitter.
