‘Well deserved’, ‘So happy’ - Chelsea fans hail £31.5m-rated ace after club message

It has been a long road for Marcos Alonso, but it has been quite the year for the Spaniard. He endured mixed spells both in Spain and England, before he was able to rejuvenate his career over in Italy with Fiorentina.

Based on his fine form in Serie A, he earned a move back to England with Chelsea – and since then, it has been an incredible rise for him.

He quickly earned his spot in the first team, and last season he won the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Chelsea don’t look likely to do the same thing again this year, but that doesn’t mean that Alonso doesn’t have anything to celebrate. To the contrary, the Spaniard may be enjoying the best week of his career – given that he made his international debut on Tuesday evening.

The defender, who is rated at £31.5 million by Transfer Markt, made his debut against Argentina in a game that his team won comfortably, becoming a three-generational international in the process.

Chelsea were quick to congratulate him over on Twitter, and the Blues’ faithful followed shortly after. He’s not always been a favourite of Chelsea fans, but it appears as though they are beginning to come around to him.
