Tottenham Hotspur fans feel the dire state of the Wembley pitch could be an opportunity for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to prevent Manchester City from playing their natural flowing game when the two sides meet at the iconic venue on Monday evening.
The Wembley field has had to suffer under Premier League and NFL matches this month with the final encounter between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles played less than 24 hours ago. Recent images have shown the pitch to be in a troubled condition even before Sunday’s match, which suggests that it will only be worse by the time Spurs and City take the field on Monday.
But, some sections of the home fans feel this might the way they would want to play the defending Premier League champions, in a game that is much slower and a bit more physical than what they are used to.
