Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are accepting defeat in one transfer race, as it seems likely that arch-rivals Manchester City are set to beat them in the battle for a top signing.
Reports indicate Pep Guardiola’s side are edging closer to a £60m deal to bring Portuguese ace Bernardo Silva to the Premier League from Monaco, following a blistering campaign for the French principality side as they won the Ligue 1 title and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Both Manchester sides were reportedly linked with interest in Bernardo Silva, who could be one of the first Monaco stars to depart this summer, but it’s now reported that United are not keen on pushing their cross-city rivals for the star’s signature.
Fans from the Red Devils have reacted in different ways to the news, with some declaring he would’ve been a waste of money anyway, whilst others have been left distraught as they feel Bernardo Silva would have been the ideal fit for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Would've been a pretty smooth transfer if Mourinho actually wanted him, because of the Portuguese and Mendes links..
