Journalist John Percy has revealed that West Bromwich Albion are in talks with an American consortium over a potential takeover of the club.

The Baggies are currently owned by Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai, who is far from a popular figure at the Hawthorns. It is believed that there is interest from across the pond in buying the Midlands outfit, with Lai reportedly already turning down an offer earlier this year.
Percy says that Lai is looking for a figure of around £150m, which is deemed to be far too high by the consortium. Even that sum would represent a £50m loss for Lai after he parted with no less than £200m to buy the club from Jeremy Peace in September 2016.

Whether a takeover will go through remains to be seen, but these West Brom supporters are delighted with this update. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts.
