Carlton Palmer reckons that American striker Daryl Dike could end up linking up with Valerien Ismael at West Brom.

The pair worked together at Barnsley to help the Tykes finish in the play-offs last season, with Dike scoring an impressive nine times in just 21 appearances, including braces against both Luton and Wycombe.

Dike's impressive form from January onwards has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs, with the striker reportedly available to sign for £18m from MLS club Orlando City.

The 21-year-old has continued his impressive form for Orlando already this term, adding a further two goals in just four outings having returned to USA following his brief spell in South Yorkshire.

West Brom have already offloaded strikers Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu and will be looking for someone to score the goals that they'll be hoping will fire them straight back into the Premier League.

And Palmer exclusively told The Transfer Tavern that the American could be that man:

"I think there's a deal to be done. I think the kid wants to play, there's a reason why he was sent out on loan.

"The £18m is the asking-price to start, but I think there is a deal to be done. If the lad wants to go and play, the deal is there to be done."
