West Brom are in talks with former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic over a free transfer, according to a new update from reliable journalist John Percy.
The Lowdown: Baggies chase free agents
The Baggies endured a disappointing end to the summer transfer window, missing out on the chance to sign Josh Onomah after documents failed to be signed in time.
It was a dreadful end to the summer, with Steve Bruce’s side struggling on the pitch at the same time, so some good news has been required since.
And with West Brom on the lookout for more signings after an anticlimactic deadline day, reports emerged earlier this week that former Burnley and Stoke City man Erik Pieters is training with the Baggies, while The Athletic have confirmed the club want to sign a midfielder and striker.
Now it appears they really are getting busy, as news breaks on an entirely new target from the unemployed market…
The Latest: Rogic ‘expected to sign’
Taking to Twitter, Percy reveals that the Baggies are closing in a move for Rogic:
“Former #Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic is in talks with #wba and expected to sign. Rogic is a free agent after leaving Celtic at the end of last season.”
The Verdict: Excellent signing for West Brom
Rogic could be an excellent signing for West Brom, possessing a proven elite mentality and still having a number of years left in him at a high level.
Happy with West Brom's window?
It was OK
Not good enough!
It feels like a signing that could take Bruce’s side up a significant level, knitting things together in the middle of the park and adding great experience and end product from midfield.
