West Brom: Baggies considering Scott Parker

West Brom: Baggies considering Scott Parker -Championship News

Scott Parker has been ‘mentioned’ as a candidate for West Bromwich Albion, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Search rumbles on

The Baggies have been in the market to find Steve Bruce’s successor following his sacking and have been linked with several names, including Millwall boss Gary Rowett and free agent Chris Wilder after his dismissal from Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

In August, the 42-year-old Parker was relieved of his duties at Bournemouth and has been out of work since, though it now seems the Hawthorns hierarchy may be thinking about changing that.

The Latest: West Brom considering Parker

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones says that West Brom have spoken about the possibility of hiring Parker and could still go on to have a strong season if they get this next appointment right.

“I’ve heard Scott Parker has been mentioned too.

“I think it makes sense that they would look at Sean Dyche. I mean, there really is great potential here for West Brom to turn around their season if they get this appointment right.”

The Verdict: Proof is in the pudding

Parker is a very attack-minded coach and has already guided both the Cherries and his other former side Fulham to promotion from the second tier, which makes him the perfect candidate to take over, despite his struggles when he actually gets to the top flight.

The Lambeth-born coach has won 78 and drawn 42 out of his 185 career matches in a professional dugout, averaging 1.49 points per match (Transfermarkt).

Regularly chopping and changing his formation to suit the opposition, the former tough tackling midfielder has utilised three, four and five at the back systems to great success at times, showing impressive tactical flexibility.

West Brom find themselves in the relegation zone after a disappointing start to the season, but Parker certainly has the right track record to come in and turn things around.
