According to Alan Nixon, West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Rennes midfielder Clement Grenier.
Baggies want Grenier
Grenier has less than six months left on his contract with Rennes, who competed in the group stage of the Champions League this season.
As such, the Baggies are said to be one of a number of sides interested in signing the 30-year-old.
Grenier seems to have been around for ever – it is now eight years since Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for him. He has spent the majority of his career with Lyon, but he has also appeared for Roma and Guingamp, while he has also picked up five caps for France.
Would you like to sign Grenier?
Previously compared to Kaka, Grenier has 31 goals and 44 assists throughout his career. With West Brom struggling at the wrong end of the table, any one of a number of players would likely help them, and Grenier is a player with vast experience and quality. Although he still has time left on his contract, he is not a regular starter for Rennes, so the Ligue 1 club may be willing to do business on a cheap deal already.
If Sam Allardyce could convince him to move to the Premier League, he could be a valuable addition for the Baggies.
