With no clear sign either way as to what Jesse Lingard will do ahead of next season, former West Ham player Rob Lee has exclusively spoken to The Transfer Tavern about Matheus Pereira being worth a gamble this summer.

Lingard was initially signed on loan but with reports suggesting he is still yet to decide on his future, West Ham may not want it to drag on through the summer and ultimately target other players in that same position.

One of those players they could target, according to reports, is Pereira. The Brazilian has been a standout for the Baggies this season and his return of 12 goals and six assists in all competitions was largely behind how they still had an outside chance of avoiding the drop.

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern however, Rob Lee believes Pereira is actually quite a different player to Lingard.

He said: "I think Jesse works harder as I've seen Pereira walking around the pitch a few times, but that's the way he plays and I've got no problems with that as long as he produces the goods week in week out, which he has at West Brom.

"He's certainly stood out in West Brom's side this season although, I'm not sure he's exactly the same as Lingard but he could be worth the risk, depending on the price."

Ahead of West Brom's relegation being confirmed, there were reports suggesting that the Baggies will be wanting to sell their star player this summer, despite the 25-year old not appearing desperate to leave the Hawthorns.

There may still be some uncertainty amongst the West Brom squad as they do not know who their manager will be next season with Sam Allardyce confirming he will not be staying with the Baggies next season.
