According to The Daily Star, West Ham United will make another bid for the £35m-rated Youssef En-Nesyri as they look to sign a striker.
Hammers will return for En-Nesyri
The Hammers lodged a £27m offer for the Sevilla star towards the end of the January transfer window as they looked to sign a replacement for Sebastien Haller (David Ornstein). Both the player and the club, though, were reluctant to complete a deal halfway through the season.
It seems the Irons have not given up on signing the 23-year-old, and they will reportedly make another move at the end of the campaign.
As the Hammers sit fifth in the Premier League table, there is no doubt that this has been a wonderful season for the London outfit. However, the failure to sign another striker after allowing Haller to leave will not help Moyes between now and the end of the season.
En-Nesyri, with 12 goals in 20 La Liga games to his name this season (Transfermarkt), would have provided both back-up and competition for Michail Antonio. David Moyes spoke this past week about how he wants to create a “new West Ham” – En-Nesyri could have been part of that.
Would you like to sign En-Nesyri?
They will still need a striker in the summer, and Sevilla could well be more willing to let him leave when there is time to bring in a replacement of their own. However, with 16 games left, West Ham are just two points off a Champions League place (Sky Sports) – the signing of En-Nesyri in the winter could have been the boost they needed to make the top four.
In other news, footage of this midfielder has delighted West Ham fans.
