Speaking to talkSPORT, transfer insider and West Ham in-the-know Alex Crook has dropped a teasing three-word update surrounding links to Red Bull Salzburg sensation Patson Daka – with the ‘transfers guy’ revealing that GSB are ‘keen‘ on the ‘fantastic‘ signing.
Daka, heavily touted to be on West Ham’s radar, with a report from the Daily Mirror first claiming that the Irons have been offered the chance to sign him, is now starting to gather even more steam in the press.
Which striker should West Ham sign this month?
‘They are keen’ on Daka
Speaking to talkSPORT, Crook has revealed that ‘they are keen’ on signing Daka this month as a direct replacement for Sebastien Haller, and supporters have already raved about the prospect of potentially landing him.
This comes as interest in Bournemouth striker Joshua King dies down, with Crook explaining that GSB are ‘possibly‘ not pursuing their interest in the Norwegian despite allegedly being keen on a ‘potential deal‘ for ‘several weeks‘ behind the scenes.
Indeed, as per this new information, Daka has emerged as a top target – with the club keen to sign him as Haller’s eventual heir.
Transfer Tavern take
Daka is currently one of the most promising talents on the continent, scoring 8 league goals in just six starts for Salzburg this season after a blistering start to the campaign (WhoScored).
Time will tell whether West Ham do sign the Zambian prodigy, but judging by his accolades, they could certainly do far worse.
However, as per recent reports, GSB may have to heavily reinvest the money garnered from Haller’s sale to do a deal – as the 22-year-old is currently valued at around £25 million.
