West Ham United: Fans react as ExWHUemployee provides injury update on Michail Antonio

Many associated with West Ham would have been worried when striker Michail Antonio limped off injured at the weekend against Manchester City.

Antonio had given the Hammers an unlikely lead in the first half with a lovely acrobatic finish. City did manage to equalise though, and the game ended 1-1.

Antonio is a crucial asset to the squad, with three goals so far this term and eight goals in the last six Premier League games of last season (Transfermarkt).

Earlier this month, Jamie Redknapp heaped praise on the forward. He said: “He is frightening. Ability, skill, he scores goals. What a threat to any defence.”

A fan of the club went to Twitter to ask the reliable ExWHUemployee for an update on his injury. It doesn’t sound good, as he said: ‘The word coming out of the club is that it isn’t as positive as Moyes first hoped.’

This has seen a lot of fans fear for the severity of the injury and they are not surprised that the Englishman is injured. The 30 year-old has been injury prone in the past and many of the Irons fan base are now even more frustrated that the club didn’t sign more squad depth in the forward position.

They have Sebastien Haller, but the Frenchman doesn’t seem to be highly rated by Moyes as when Antonio was injured, the manager brought on winger Yarmolenko to replace him instead.

Here is how West Ham fans are reacting to the injury update on Antonio:

In other news, an emerging young star at the club has teased he is close to returning from injury. Have a read who it is here!
