Manchester United managed to secure a number of players in the summer transfer window as they set their sights on a top four place and a potential title challenge.
The Red Devils drafted in the likes of Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant in the summer, but only one of these players has really made a positive impact in the current campaign.
Of course, with United currently sitting in seventh position, and the gap between them and the top four being seven points, Jose Mourinho has an awful lot to think about as the January transfer window approaches.
One man that has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford is Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.
The latest report surrounding Perisic’s future suggests that Manchester United could secure his services for a cut-price, with Inter Milan supposedly ready to cash in on the winger.
Interestingly, the Croatian international was one of the standout performers at the World Cup in the summer as he helped his nation reach the final, so a bargain £31 million deal seems too good to be true.
He has established himself as one of the hottest topics in world football over the past couple of seasons and is thriving over in Italy at this moment in time, with two goals and two assists to his name. The 29-year-old may not have contributed much in the final third this season, but it’s what he does in the build-up to goals that really makes him one of the best, with his link-up play and incredible passing ability helping his side create.
Perisic is essentially a two-footed player and is completely at ease passing, crossing and shooting with either his right or left foot, which makes him a huge danger on either flank.
And, with the winger putting in performances on a similar level to Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne during the World Cup, he is the kind of game-changer that could easily help knock Manchester City off their perch and would put United back among Europe’s elite.
