With Liverpool making an excellent start to their Premier League campaign which has seen them hit plenty of goals already, the Reds fans here in the Tavern are starting to think the club can really go on to have success this season.
Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have developed a style of play which is easy on the eye and a nightmare for opposing teams to play against. Their high pressing style and wealth of attacking options give every defence in the Premier League a headache most weekends.
One big part of that success though which appears to be shining early on this campaign is their front three. The combination of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah, and the impressive Sadio Mane has wreaked havoc so far this term, and our landlord thinks they could be the key to Liverpool landing some silverware this term.
You will be hard pressed to find a more pacey front three in Europe, never mind just in England, and the way that they have clicked at the beginning of this campaign has been exceptional.
With Firmino at the centre of the three, his ability to operate just off from the contraints of his defensive markers and drop into the hole as a number 10 is pulling defenders out of position, allowing space for Mane and Salah in return.
Add to this the midfield three of the Reds pressing and winning the ball back quickly, and Liverpool’s counter attacking style works wonders with the three they have up top.
If they carry on as they are then there is no reason why Liverpool cannot win a trophy this season. It is a testament to just how impressive they have been as Liverpool have not missed talisman Philippe Coutinho one bit as yet, and the Brazilian could have his work cut out to force his way back into the team.
