The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been questioning the club’s decision to send out Paudie O’Connor on-loan. The young Irish defender signed a new deal with the club keeping him at Elland Road until 2020, but journalist Phil Hay has claimed that the defender is set to go on-loan to League One.

Paudi O’Connor isn’t a name that many Leeds fans would have expected to be in the first-team much this season, but they still would have wanted him at Elland Road and ready to be called upon. The Irishman has been over the club for little over a year after joining from Limerick back in March 2017. He made a total of four appearances for the Whites in their most recent campaign and could go on to star under Marcelo Bielsa’s tutelage.
With the club chasing the signature of at least one centre-back, it’s likely that O’Connor wouldn’t have go the game time that he needs to kick on and improve at the Yorkshire club anyway, but the fans are keen to see him stick around and muck in, competing for a spot in the first-team. Instead, they’re left with Liam Cooper at the back alongside Pontus Jansson until they can bring in a new signing and the fans aren’t best pleased with that.

Whilst Paudie O’Connor is still raw as a player, the fans will be hoping that the loan move can improve him, as much as they’d rather keep him at Elland Road.
