The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see Chelsea winger Willian join the club…
Jose Mourinho has always been a manager that has a set few players within his squad that are his preferred options. During first tenure at Chelsea he had the likes of John Terry and Frank Lampard, whilst in his second tenure the likes of Nemanja Matic and Willian came to the forefront.
Willian, in particular, flourished under the Portuguese boss – with Mourinho really getting the best out of the Brazilian star.
It came as no surprise to the fans in the Transfer Tavern, then, when the Daily Star linked the Brazilian with a move to Man Utd – with Mourinho keen to link up with his former star.
Whilst on the surface the deal might seem like a difficult one to make happen, in reality – could it be perfect for all parties involved?
Here are 2 reasons why this transfer really could work…
The Mourinho Effect

Jose Mourinho has a habit of bringing the best out of players when he is in charge, and that could be vital from the perspective of both Man Utd and Willian himself.
On a personal level, Willian has struggled this year. He has done decently well in parts, but he has struggled to live up to the performances of last season – and Antonio Conte has often preferred Pedro in his place as of late.
From Man Utd’s perspectives, if Mourinho can get the best out of Willian – he could be a real star. The likes of Martial and Lingard are struggling – and Willian could come in in their place.
Role at Chelsea

If Chelsea could get a decent fee for Willian, around the £40 million mark, the deal could actually make a lot of sense.
He isn’t regularly playing, and at 28-years-old, he is no longer the young player that he was when Chelsea signed him.
He has been a fantastic servant to the club, but Antonio Conte doesn’t seem to rate him as highly at Pedro – and it isn’t helpful having him on the bench every week.
It might raise a few questions, selling another midfielder to Man Utd, but it does make a fair amount of sense.
