Wolves are still interested in signing Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig in the summer transfer window, with a new transfer rumour emerging from Spain on Tuesday morning.

The Lowdown: Wolves linked with Puig move

The 22-year-old was one of an endless stream of La Masia prospects tipped to do big things at Barca but it hasn't quite panned out for him that way.

Puig has become an increasingly peripheral figure at the Camp Nou, making just one start in La Liga this season and appearing for only 17 minutes in the Champions League.

Wolves have been linked with signing the young midfielder in the past and their interest doesn't appear to have gone away.

The Latest: New rumour emerges

According to Sport's new update, Wanderers still see Puig as a primary transfer target this summer, looking at opportunities to bring him in at the end of the season.

Barca may be willing to sell the Spaniard, given his lack of playing time and the fact that his current deal expires in the summer of 2023.

The Verdict: Great summer addition

Puig is a superb technical player who has enjoyed an incredible 93.9% pass completion rate across his ten league appearances this season, highlighting why he would be an exciting signing for Wolves, even if coming from a small sample size.

Not only that but he was once compared to Spanish legend Andres Iniesta by Daniele Massaro back in 2018, such was his reputation at the time.

With Ruben Neves linked with a move to Barca and Joao Moutinho 35 years of age, Puig could be a fantastic and much-needed midfield addition by Bruno Lage.
