Wolves have announced the permanent signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen following his season-long loan from Celta Vigo last season.

The Norwegian striker impressed in his debut Premier League season, scoring 14 goals and helping Wolves escape relegation. Strand Larsen is already in Wolves folklore, having broken two club records in his first campaign.

He has scored the most goals for Wolves from a Premier League debutant in their history, overtaking Raul Jimenez’s 2018/19 tally of 13. He also became the first Wolves player to score in four consecutive wins in the Premier League.

It is no wonder that the obligatory clauses in his loan contract where met, making his move now permanent until 2029 per Wolves’ official site.

Strand Larsen extend Wolves stay to 2029

The 6’4 striker is set be the Wolves key man now that striker partner Matheus Cunha has departed for Manchester United. He will also lose one his other favorite assist providers in Rayan Ait-Nouri who has moved to the other side of Manchester with Man City.

He will however be glad to welcome his friend and former Celta Vigo teammate Fer Lopez to the club. The young attacking midfielder became Wolves’ first signing of this summer and will look to supply service to his friend in attack.

Speaking to the official website of Wolves, Strand Larsen expressed his delight with his successful first season in England.

“It’s been a good first season in the Premier League,” Strand Larsen said. “I’m proud of what I’ve done. I’ve been able to take the steps quite earlier than I’ve done before. Previously when I moved to a new country, I’ve needed more time to get into it and score goals.”

“As a striker, the team need you to score the goals and be on the end of the crosses, so to score 14 goals – and come back after my injuries and a little dip of form – it was a good season for me in that respect.”

“Since Vitor and his staff came in, I scored eight goals, and seven goals in seven or eight games, so it was a good end of the season, and as a team we progressed in a really good way for next season.”

Wolves are looking to build on a 16th place finish. They finished strong last season, managing to escape relegation comfortably after lingering around the bottom three for much of the first half of the season.

They have been linked with Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliot as a marquee signing as well as a few other key names to help bolster their squad.
