Olise is a no-go for Nuno
The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium this summer, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side among several clubs interested in acquiring his services for the 2020/21 campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, the West Midlands outfit were set to battle with Arsenal and Leeds United for the young Frenchman, who performed magnificently for the Royals during his breakthrough season at the club.
With the transfer window due to close at 5pm this afternoon, Wolves don’t have long to strike a deal for the Reading youngster.
Should Wolves go for Michael Olise?
Taking this into account, Paunovic, who previously described Olise as a “talented player”, spoke to Berkshire Live about a possible move for the France under-18 international, saying: “It’s the first time I’ve heard about it so no comments.
“We’re working with him and everyone else to improve our team. Right now I have nothing to say about that.
“No one has asked to leave but that can change, we’ll see. It’s a two-way thing and if something changes we’ll assess it again. [But] I don’t think there will be big changes.”
Urgent action needed
Nuno has not got much time at all to get this done. Olise is a versatile midfielder who can play on both wings, as well as in the number ten role and on occasions, in central midfield, as per TransferMarkt. He is an attacking option that could be considered to be a long-term replacement for Diogo Jota, who left Molineux in the summer to join Liverpool for £41m.
It all depends on what plans Nuno has for him. If he pushes for the move to happen, it may indicate that the manager has a first-team squad role in line for him this season. If not, it could be that he is willing to wait to see how the teenager develops over the next 12 months. If Olise continues to impress, Nuno may re-enter the market to capture him next year.
