Woodward must ensure these 2 Man United deals follow De Gea’s potential new contract

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern will be keeping a close eye on, probably, one of the most important deals to happen at Old Trafford in recent times for their amazing goalkeeper David De Gea.

United are looking to start re-opening talks with their number one goalkeeper David De Gea, following initial discussions earlier in the year. The Spanish international’s current contract runs out in 2019, although there is the option of a one-year extension. Mourinho would surely be looking to tie down De Gea for a longer period to ward off long-term interest off Spanish Giants Real Madrid, much to the delight of our resident Red Devils.

Our regulars in the bar have seen De Gea go from a skinny, fragile targetted goalkeeper to one of, if not the world’s best, ‘keeper over his seven years at the club. Indeed, if Ed Woodward gets the deal done on a long-term basis, even better if he can do it before the World Cup, the Red Devils will see the fruits of their labour.

With that being said, our landlord takes a look at TWO other players that Mourinho should be looking at bringing alongside the De Gea deal…

Riyad Mahrez

It seems from Man City’s late bid for the Algerian in the winter window, that Mahrez is once again open to a move away from the King Power Stadium. With that in mind, the United faithful would relish the opportunity to see an out and out right-winger, with the quality of Mahrez, bombarding the flank once again to excite the crowd, which is something they have missed over the years.

Mahrez has plenty of Premier League experience and he’s won the title, which gives him the up on many of the United squad. The thought of he and either Martial or Sanchez flanking Romelu Lukaku is a hugely exciting one for our regulars.

Arturo Vidal

A midfielder like Arturo Vidal would surely relish the limelight of Old Trafford, alongside hooking up with Chilean national teammate Alexis Sanchez, and the box-to-box-midfielder has all the qualities needed to come in and do a job that’s needed in Paul Pogba or Nemanja Matic’s absence.

He’s creative, has an eye for goal and a high pass rate alongside his tackling abilities and interceptions. Many of the regulars in the bar would love to see him at the club and think Vidal would be a perfect fit for the Red Devils.
