‘Would be peak Wenger’ - Plenty of Arsenal fans are angry at Emery’s latest transfer plan

Arsenal have had a lot to be happy about this summer. After several years of mediocrity, Arsene Wenger announced that he was stepping down earlier this year, and so that brought an end to a reign that lasted for over 20 years. In that time the Frenchman had a lot of success, but he also had a lot of bad times.

Unai Emery was brought in to replace him, and thus far, the Spaniard has made a good impression on fans. He’s signed some exciting players like Bernd Leno, and you’d expect him to look to bring in a few more over the coming weeks.

However, his latest target hasn’t gone down well amongst our resident Gunners. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are keen on Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes, who currently plays for Barcelona.

He had a really poor campaign last season, picking up 0 goals and 0 assists, but prior to his move to Catalonia, he was a star for La Liga outfit Valencia.

Arsenal supporters, though, aren’t willing to look past the last year, it seems, as they’ve taken to Twitter to slam the report. Indeed, plenty of Arsenal fans aren’t happy about the news, with one touting it as a prime example of what Arsene Wenger would have done previously.

Gomes is a broken record..
€40m is large for a broken record.
I would rather we find something more efficient than mend a broken spirit.
Ndombele would cost €20m + Golovin €30 = €50
