‘You destroyed the team’ - Chelsea fans on Twitter slate Antonio Conte after comments

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern knew going into their match with Barcelona a positive outcome would have been difficult, however, they always had a chance to progress should they have remained in the tie.

In fact, the Blues did not play badly across the two-legs at all, and many will be cursing the mistakes made at the back, with all four goals arriving because of lapses in concentration and individual error.

Antonio Conte was pleased with the performance of his players on Twitter during the second-leg tie at the Nou Camp – stating that he saw his players put in a lot of positive work in the game.

Fans, however, responded to the manager’s response with one of their own, suggesting that one member of the squad should not have been included in that praise.

Thibaut Courtois was at fault for two of the three goals, which were both scored by Lionel Messi, as he allowed the ball to go through his legs. The Belgium international goalkeeper has made it no secret that he would like to return to La Liga at some point in his career, with Real Madrid his favoured destination (via The Independent).

After his performance at the Camp Nou, a number of Chelsea fans in the Tavern appear to be willing to let him go and do not want him at their club.

Conte is helping Chelsea play good football right now. He is indeed a valuable asset do not lose this man #Chelsea. But get rid of courtious, he such an overrated goalkeeper. Get us a better goal keeper plz and keep Caballero.
