‘Unsettled’ Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov could be on his way to French side Paris Saint-Germain in a £12 million deal, according to the Daily Mail.
Qatar Sports Investments have recently purchased a 70% stake in PSG for around €40 million and are keen to build for a return to the Champions League return having just missed out on qualification this season.
The Bulgarian has enjoyed his best season at the club and finished joint top scorer in this year’s Premier League with 21 goals and has scored 48 times in his 3 years at the club.
Despite being United’s record signing at £30.75 million the 30-year old has fallen out of favour of late and left the stadium before kickoff having been omitted from the side for the Champions League final.
Berbatov is moving into the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and the club are keen to cash in on him now rather than risk losing him for nothing next Summer. Berbatov has fallen down the pecking order with Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez forging a useful partnership and Michael Owen signing a contract extension. Berbatov is keen to stay at Old Trafford but would not be first choice next year.
