Though relegation fears are still largely in play amongst the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern, the punters propping up our bar have been absolutely delighted of late. Indeed, at long last, reports suggest Mike Ashley is ready to back Rafa Benitez in the market with a club-record move for a striker.
As you can imagine, our resident Geordies have been dancing on the pool tables ever since that news broke, with many of them trying to guess who it could be. Well, thanks to George Caulkin, he’s narrowed down their search ever so slightly, through his comments on Twitter.
With many talking on social media about who it could be, the Times journalist moved to pour cold water on the idea that it could be either Atletico Madrid star Kevin Gamiero or Celtic’s Moussa Dembele. Caulkin directly replied to Twitter users asking about the pair, revealing neither were in the Magpies’ current thinking.
